Huge congratulations to the following 7 Wilmslow players who have been selected for the Sale Sharks Development Group (SDG) for the 23/24 u16 season:-

- Louie Wade
- Millar Anderson
- Sam Keep
All players thoroughly deserve their spot in the 36 player squad and the coaches are incredibly proud of their achievement(s). To have 7 players from our squad qualify for the SDG is yet another ‘feather to our cap’ and we should wish the boys well in their journey with the Sharks over the summer and throughout next season. Well done lads, top effort.
For those boys who missed out (and to all of the squad really…) see here a note from Noel Speed, head of the Academy:
“…be assured this is the first entry into the academy pathway and is merely the start of their involvement in the game. The selections are based on the criteria around our DNA (Creativity, Defence, Athlete, Teammate) as players develop at different rates and ages based on their maturation and experience. Unquestionably there will be players not invited in who are capable of being part of the academy group. I would genuinely encourage all the lads to keep enjoying the benefits of the sport and working hard if their aspirations are to progress up the pathway. This is supported by continual entry (and exit) points into the academy groups throughout the age grades to reflect the nature of development in the sport.”
Be disappointed, be angry… but don’t be disheartened. Now’s the time to show your resilience & ambition and show everyone how good you are not when the sun is shining on you…. but how good you are ‘when it rains’. If you want it… train hard and your time will come.
Congrats once again to ‘the 7’ – go show them how Wilmslow do it
